July 07/06
Hey guyssss, have had some great feed back, and word has been spreading! The time and effort you guys have offered is really amazing. Thanks alot~ So now we've set the date to Wednesday, August 23rd (Pray that we'll have good weather :]) and it will hopefully be hosted at Donmills And Steeles soccer field. Because there are multiple fields there we might actually do exhibition game and have a round robin going on and then go into playoffs. Originally i had assumed that may be too much work but from the feed back i recieved most people wanted this. Now this depends on whether or not i can get enough refs and linesmen to game and if i can get this field. I'm working on getting the permit to it.

Things are really starting to move along, and once again i appreciate everyones help! So far we may be covered by refs by a Mr.Ige Egal, music may be provided by dj OBU, and some drinks sponsored by Coke through Kyle Hunt. Thanks alot for even your consideration guys : )
On a side note, i'm still looking into Nike, Adidas, Eminem and grocers.

Alright so you guys may be wondering what this is all about. Well for those of you who may not know me my name is Jenn. Basically I've decided to try and hold a charity soccer tournament in hopes to raise money for the organization called freethechildren.

This was sort of an impulsive thing I decided to do, but now I'm pretty determined for it. So first to go over the basics...

who? what? where? when? and how?
1. for all ages to help with the event and play (however the majority of the players on a team should be minimum 15 yrs of age).
2. Soccer playing and entertainment, music, food, and raffles.
3.
Intersection: Donmills and Steeles at Simonston Park
HOWEVER, this is not yet confirmed.. I'm speaking with Toronto Park and Recreation to get the permit for it.
4. Wednesday, August 23, 2006. (hopefully the weather will be kind to us) It will be an all day event, most likey to start from 10am.
5. with your help and participation =)

Brief and sketchy details on the tournament
(feel free to give me your input and opinions on any of the matters)

1.Tournament Schedule
So this is a rough sketch of how it may going to work. The tournament will be consisting of 8 teams of 11 (yes a full team). And there will be 8 games throughout the day. I don't have a date set up for this yet, but it'll be somewhere mid Augustish.. so expect it around august 15-25. I don't have the date yet, however I do have a schedule of how the games will work.

Each game will be 50 minutes and teams should be warmed up and ready to play immediately.

Right now I'm beggining to speak with possible sponsors for the tournament and/or just prizes. Hopefully I can track down a company like Adidas or Nike. Depending on how generous companies will be, I will try to administer prizes to third place.

2.SoccerGame Itself
Like I mentioned before, games will be 50 minutes long. Although this is not a set time it is preferable. If you guys have any problems with this just let me know. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Also, all rules applied in an official soccer game apply to these. As this is an event for charity lets not get too competitive and carried away and if there is misbehaviour or bad conduct then you will be asked to leave and the team will be left short handed. Teams will be made in 2 ways, either you come to me with a set team or group of friends you'd wish to play with, or if you're on your own I can put you on a team. Preferably, I'd like to see ages 16 or older play to keep the teams more fair, however it's for anyone and all ages.

4.To the Players
If you have decided you wish to participate in this event, that's great just be sure to notify me. Also note, that there is a 5$ entry fee... the 5$ is still debatable and I may higher the fee depending on the feed back and input i get from you guys. Next to the entry fee I will be expecting everyone to try and get sponsors and donations from family, friends, neighbours or anyone that may be willing to donate.

5.Helping Out and Contact Info
okay guys, this is a huggggge project i've decided to take on.. and I could use all the help I can get.

First off, EVERYONE would be asked to spread the word of this event. At the tournament there will also be food and music and whatever else we can get, so everyone and anyone is welcome to enjoy some food, music, soccer and entertainment.

Also, I'm looking into sponsors for the tournament and also possibly looking into grocery stores and M&M to see if they may wish to contribute food and goods to be sold at the tournament.

I'll also be looking into volunteer refs and linesmen for this tournament, if you're interested please let me know but keep in mind it is a charity event so don't expect a payroll.

Now if anyone wishes to help or has some good contacts PLEASE let me know whether it be grocery store, M&M, music, or reffing, any help would be an awesome contribution.
